Calling All Wizards, Lookout For Harry Potter Cross Stitch Kits

By Julia Wigham

J.K. Rowling reopened the wonderful world of wizardry to kids both young and old when her incredible work, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" was published in 1997. This series has been topping the favorites lists everywhere ever since. Many crafters have been searching for Harry Potter Cross Stitch Kits as a way to proudly display their love of these fascinating characters.

All across the Internet, you see people talking about their desire to stitch something from this popular book/movie series. The demand is definitely worth looking into by any of the cross stitch publishers. I'm sure if any of these companies were to produce Harry Potter cross stitch kits, they would literally fly out the doors to stitchers all over the world.

One craft enthusiast has produced a number of Harry Potter graphs to be used for making afghans either by knitting or crocheting. While these graphs are not specifically for cross stitch, they could probably be used for it, with the designer's permission, of course. You can go to http://groups.msn.com/louisesinbreipatronen/harrypotterpatronen.msnw to see what she has come up with.

Members of Yahoo may be interested in signing up for the Harry Potter Crafts group. To locate the group, go to www.groups.yahoo.com and enter "Harry Potter crafts". You will be directed to a page where you can sign up for the group. Once admitted you may be able to find something to meet your Harry Potter crafting needs.

Within the Yahoo Harry Potter Crafts group, you will find a link to "The Leaky Cauldron," a Harry Potter-themed web site. Forum members have posted craft patterns for plastic canvas that can be adapted to cross stitch. In addition, there are patterns for knit and crochet on this forum. However, although the designs are creative, the patterns might not satisfy many avid cross stitchers.

A Frenchman, Frdrique Deviller, created an entire cross stitch booklet packed full with some 60 Harry Potter patterns including wizard symbols and each of the favorite characters. This booklet, produced by Mango Practique, and located at "Cross Stitch Direct" in Bromsgrove, UK, has become a rather rare collector's item for Harry Potter lovers of all ages. Although it is in high demand, it is hard to find, and there's a strong possibility it's no longer published.

Most people would prefer an actual kit to work from as everything they need would be included. At this point, there have not been any authorized kits available. Several people have created Harry Potter cross stitch kits and have sold them on eBay. So, this might be the only option you have if you seek an actual Harry Potter cross stitch kit.
